What does Gloria want? For one thing, the thirteen-year-old wants a boyfriend, but when she gets one—Marc, the best-looking guy at school—she learns to be careful what she wishes for. It takes her the length of the novel to figure out that Marc is a jerk, but because Withrow (Box Girl, rev. 1/02) makes her characters believably multidimensional, readers are only a little bit ahead of Gloria.
