Hayes (English, Univ. of Central Oklahoma; The Road to Monticello: The Life and Mind of Thomas Jefferson) debunks the characterization of revolutionary patriot Patrick Henry ("Give me Liberty, or give me Death!") as essentially an unlearned backwoodsman who happened to have the gift of oratory.
