Here are two books that attempt to tell the history of hip-hop via words and pictures. Paniccioli's slick but uninspired Who Shot Ya? proves that this genre has yet to find its Annie Leibovitz. While the range of his subjects is impressive-included are hip-hop pioneers like Fab Five Freddy as well as recent rappers la Eminem-his approach is not.
