It is a sad comment on the world of trade publishing that Penguin, a major house, could have produced a six-volume series of great English poets, narrated by some of the finest English actors, and not have required its engineers to keep the output levels up to par. To properly hear this recording, most listeners will have to crank up the volume until background noise becomes intrusive.
