Don't let the sappy subtitle and sunshine-happy cover fool you. As in all of Schwartz's early books, there's a real story here, with spot-on dialogue and characterization, a child protagonist undergoing an inner crisis, and a neat resolution. The 1983 original, with black-and-white art and a modest trim size, was a gem of emotional integrity.
