Ravenel has done it again. For 17 years, she has been culling the best short stories by Southern writers from a wide range of literary journals. This year's collection once more confirms her steady editorial hand, sharp insights, and critical vision. Many of the stories deal with the inertia into which relationships fall when partners are unable to commit, while others deal with families and loss.
