Gr 2-5 Spirin uses excerpts from the King James Version of Genesis to accompany his watercolor paintings of Noah's story. God is remote and majestic, an old man with flowing white hair and beard. Spirin uses the text of the King James Bible version of Genesis with minimal edits, depicting it literally as the word of God, who is shown at the top of each tablet-shaped block of text as if speaking the words himself. Spirin's depiction of God—flowing white hair and beard, light pouring from the top of his head—is very much in keeping with the artist's romantic style.
